Dominic Ng is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of East West Bank (Nasdaq: EWBC), the largest publicly listed independent bank headquartered in Southern California. Since joining the Bank in 1991, he has transformed East West from a $600 million savings and loan association into a global full-service commercial bank with $85 billion in assets. Today, its nearly 3,500 employees serve more than 700,000 customers. In recognition of the Bank’s financial performance, S&P Global Market Intelligence named East West Bank the No. 1 Best-Performing Bank in the United States in 2023. Bank Director has also ranked East West Bank America's No. 1 Top Performing Bank four times in its RankingBanking study since 2021.
Mr. Ng served as Chair of the 2023 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Advisory Council (ABAC), the private-sector arm of APEC that advises heads of state and government on economic growth by advocating for businesses large and small. He also serves on the governing boards of Mattel Inc. (NYSE: MAT), the University of Southern California (USC) and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. His previous board service includes the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, Los Angeles Branch; PacifiCare Health Systems (formerly NYSE: PHS); the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures; and the United Way of Greater Los Angeles.
For his industry leadership and business achievements American Banker named Mr. Ng “Banker of the Year,” commending his ability to execute a bold vision while maintaining credit discipline and building East West into one of the nation’s most profitable banks. American Banker also recognized its cross-border banking business and customer service across the U.S. and Asia. Among other honors, he was named Business Person of the Year by the Los Angeles Business Journal, one of Forbes’ 25 Most Notable Chinese Americans and one of the 100 most influential people in Los Angeles by The Los Angeles Times.
Mr. Ng’s contributions to culture, philanthropy and civic leadership have earned him widespread recognition. In 2025, he received the inaugural “Wallis Icon Award” from the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts for corporate philanthropy, as well as the Los Angeles World Affairs Council’s inaugural World Prize for advancing global understanding. In 2026, he was awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, in recognition of his public service and cross-cultural initiatives. United Way Worldwide also recognized him with the Alexis de Tocqueville Award—its highest honor—for his decades of leadership as a board member and campaign chair of United Way of Greater Los Angeles. In that role, he made history as the first Asian American to lead the organization's annual campaign, raising a record-breaking $66 million in 2000. His innovative approach became a model for United Way chapters nationwide.

A respected commentator on banking and finance, Mr. Ng has addressed business, government, media, entertainment, academic, philanthropic and civic audiences. He shared his insights on how technology and global audiences are shaping the future of entertainment at the 2026 Milken Institute Global Conference. His efforts to foster East-West cultural understanding have led to partnerships between East West Bank and institutions including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art, USC Pacific Asia Museum, The Bowers Museum, the Huntington Library and The Broad.
Before joining East West Bank, Mr. Ng held senior leadership roles at Deloitte & Touche in Houston and Los Angeles. A Certified Public Accountant, he earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston and holds honorary degrees from Occidental College and the University of Houston.
