The time it takes for funds to reach the recipient’s bank account depends on the transfer option chosen. Typically, it will take:

  • U.S. Domestic Wire transfer: 1-3 business days
  • ACH transfer: 3-5 business days
  • International wire transfers: Delivery times vary, but an estimated delivery date will be provided by email once your request has been received. 

Note: Transfers requested after East West Bank’s cut-off time or on a non-business day (weekend or U.S. federal holiday) may not be processed by East West Bank until the next business day. Delivery times vary, and may take longer depending on the receiving bank's processing and verification requirements, and the delivery country.

On the Mobile App tap Transfer & Pay > Transfers> select the account you want to transfer funds to under My Accounts> Send to > filling out the required information and tap Continue > verify and Swipe to initiate transfer.

On Online Banking select Transfer & Pay > Transfers > next to the account you want to transfer funds to under My Accounts select Send to > filling out the required information and tap Continue > verify and select Initiate transfer.

East West Bank services both incoming and outgoing International Wire transfers.

To initiate a transfer using the Mobile App or Online Banking, tap Transfer & Pay>Transfer>Select an account or recipient to send money to>Send To.  If you’re sending to a new recipient, tap Add under recipient>select Recipient type Person, Business or Me>enter name>Next >Select a transfer method>International> International wire and complete your transfer by filling out the required information.

Using our Online Banking Service you can initiate International Wire Transfers to approximately 240 countries, with select local currency delivery in 8 supported currencies:

  • AUD - Australian Dollar
  • CAD - Canadian Dollar
  • CHF - Swiss Franc
  • EUR - Euro
  • GBP - British Pound Sterling
  • HKD - Hong Kong Dollar
  • JPY - Japanese Yen
  • SGD - Singapore Dollar

Note: For local currency delivery, the foreign exchange rate will be determined by the Bank at the time you submit your request. If you do not submit the request or otherwise cancel your request after submission, the foreign exchange rate will no longer be valid.

All Domestic Wires are automatically approved after submission and cannot be cancelled. Please be sure to always double check your entry before submitting a wire transfer request.

Once an International Wire has been submitted, you will have 30 minutes to cancel the wire. If we’re able to cancel the transaction, you’ll receive a confirmation message in-app. If you don’t see a cancel option, or if you receive an unable to cancel message, that means your wire requests has already begun. 

To cancel on the Mobile App, select the account number you used to make the transfer under My Accounts > select the transaction you wish to cancel, tap Cancel this transaction > Yes, cancel transfer.

To cancel on Online Banking, select the account you used to make the transfer under My Accounts > select the transaction you wish to cancel, select Cancel transaction > Cancel transaction.

A Red Envelope is a monetary gift that can be sent to your friend or family member’s East West Bank account on holidays or special occasions. You can send your money with a customized message and theme. There is no fee for sending a Red Envelope, and the delivery timing is the same as Internal Transfer. Once a Red Envelope has been successfully sent, it cannot be cancelled or rejected. The recipient will get the money instantaneously.

To send a Red Envelope thru Online Banking or the Mobile App, select Transfer & Pay > Red Envelope. For new recipients, use the Add button and fill out the necessary information. Create an envelope with your desired color and message.

We collect the recipient’s address to comply with U.S. regulations.

  • For your own accounts, provide the address that you registered with the other receiving bank.
  • For other recipient accounts, ask your recipient for the address that he/she has registered with their receiving bank.

Some International Wires will require you to indicate an intermediary bank as part of the wire instruction. An intermediary bank is simply a bank that acts on behalf of the recipient bank to help process the wire transfer.

To ensure your wire is delivered in a timely and accurate manner, you should always input the wire instruction exactly as provided by the recipient bank.
