If you have a Premier e-Checking or Global Student account, you can order a debit card in the Mobile App under My Account > My Debit Cards > Request Card.

To order a debit card in Online Banking, under My Account select Manage Card on the homepage>Request Card

Note: If your Debit card is being shipped to an international (non-U.S.) address, your checking account will be charged a $20 USD international shipping fee. Waived for Global Checking customers with Velo Gold status. International Shipping fee is applicable to select countries only.      

You can also request a debit card by contacting your branch office or via chat.

Upon requesting your debit card in the mobile app, you should expect to receive your card within:

  • 7 – 10 business days if shipping within the U.S.
  • 3 – 4 weeks if shipping to China
  • 3 – 6 weeks if shipping internationally (excluding China)

You’ll be able to activate your debit card directly from within the Mobile App once you receive it. To activate your debit card, tap My Account > My Debit Cards > Activate. You’ll be required to enter your card number and set a confidential 4-digit debit card PIN that you can use at ATMs and POS terminals. 

To activate your debit card in Online Banking, under My Account select Manage Card > Activate and follow the prompt to activate your debit card. You’ll be required to enter your card number and set a confidential 4-digit debit card PIN that you can use at ATMs and POS terminals. 

You can use your debit card at ATMs that display any one of the following logos: Visa®, Plus®, STAR®, NYCE®, PULSE®, Interlink®, Allpoint® and MoneyPass®

To view your specific debit card limits, login to the Mobile App and tap My Account> My Debit Cards > View card limits.

To view in Online Banking, under My Account select Manage Card on the homepage to view your limits.

You won't be charged a fee when using an East West Bank ATM, or an ATM that displays the Allpoint® or MoneyPass® logo.

For other ATMs, we will not charge you for the first two ATM withdrawal transactions in your statement cycle. After that, each withdrawal transaction will be charged a $1 fee. Additionally, ATM usage fees may also be charged by the ATM operator.

No, a debit card is not required for deposits, wires and transfers. Therefore, a debit card will not be automatically issued, but you are able to order a card at a later date if you need one.

Your debit card will have a unique card number, that will be linked to your checking or savings account. 

You'll be able to use your Visa® debit card globally at Merchants or ATMs displaying one or more of the following network logos: Visa®, Plus®, STAR®, NYCE®, PULSE®, Interlink®, Allpoint® and MoneyPass®. Please select the checking option when withdrawing cash at an ATM.

ATM withdrawals in foreign currency will be automatically converted from USD to the local currency by the ATM operator’s network. 

Note:  The conversion rate will be determined by the network operator.  We may also impose a charge equal to 1% of the transaction amount for each transaction that you conduct outside the United States or in a foreign currency. This charge is in addition to other ATM usage fees.

Having a Visa Debit Card will not only make online and in store purchases at merchants in the U.S and abroad seamless, but can also be used to withdraw cash at ATMs. Global Student account holders may also enjoy access to ATMs in the U.S. without worrying about surcharges. 1

1 There is no charge for using an East West Bank ATM. Non East West Bank ATM usage fees may be charged to your account at the request of the 3rd party operating the ATM. If you use your Debit Card to initiate an ATM transaction from your account, we will refund the ATM usage fees to your account each statement cycle.
