Digging Deep for Earth Day

APRIL 6, 2025

This past Saturday morning, our SoCal volunteer associates came together to celebrate Earth Month in a meaningful way. Partnering with Food ED — a nonprofit dedicated to promoting environmental stewardship, eco-justice, and healthy living in San Gabriel Valley communities and schools — our volunteers rolled up their sleeves to help revitalize the school garden at Roosevelt Elementary.

The garden, once overgrown and neglected for years, was ready for a fresh start. Undeterred by the morning rain, our volunteers showed incredible spirit and dedication, working side by side to bring the space back to life. They planted five beautiful fruit trees, filled raised beds with rich soil, weeded tirelessly, and sowed seeds for vegetables, flowers, and native California plants.

Thanks to our volunteers’ hard work, Roosevelt Elementary now has a thriving garden where students can learn firsthand about food sustainability, environmental care, and the simple joy of growing their own food. This special space will nurture not just plants, but young minds, helping students build a lifelong connection with nature.
