Banking on the Future

MAY 15, 2025

Our New York associates recently partnered with Junior Achievement of New York for the JA in a Day program at PS 43 Jonas Bronck School in the Bronx, where 97% of the student population are economically disadvantaged.

Our New York retail and SBA associate volunteers stepped into first and second grade classrooms, bringing Junior Achievement’s engaging curriculum to life. The first graders participated in “JA Our Families,” a program designed to introduce young students to the roles families play in a community and the difference between needs and wants. Our associates helped spark important conversations around teamwork, decision-making, and how families work together to thrive.

Meanwhile, the second graders explored “JA Our Community,” which immerses students in the daily workings of a local economy. With help from our volunteers, the students discovered how businesses operate, the value of money, and the role each person plays in building a strong, supportive community.

It was a day full of smiles, learning, and inspiration—not just for the students, but for our volunteers as well.
