Houston Walk Kicks Cancer in the Butt!

No one fights cancer alone. That’s why on March 23, over 50 Houston associates, family and friends got their rear in gear and participated in MD Anderson Cancer Center’s 14th Annual Sprint for Colorectal Oncology Prevention and Education (SCOPE) 5K run and walk. The 5K raises funds for colorectal cancer awareness, education, and outreach efforts.

According to the American Cancer Society, excluding skin cancers, colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosed in both men and women in the United States and is also the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in men and women.

In addition to raising awareness about colorectal cancer, our associates also had the opportunity to celebrate alongside survivors of colorectal cancer. This event touched the hearts of many employees, family and friends, especially those who have had loved ones pass due to cancer. We hope the awareness raised through supporting activities like the SCOPE 5K will lead to meaningful action in ending colorectal and other forms of cancer.
