Building Wealth through Homeownership

Recently, members of our mortgage development team participated in Community Wealth Building Day hosted by the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB) in Compton, CA. Over 800 local first-time home buyers from nearby low- to moderate- income (LMI) neighborhoods attended the event exploring opportunities to build wealth through home ownership.

The event helped prospective homebuyers understand all aspects of the home buying process by providing workshops specifically tailored to first time buyers and included topics such as down payment assistance, mortgage counseling, foreclosure prevention, credit counseling, insurance classes, budgeting, and more.

Additionally, our bank’s mortgage development associates introduced guests to East West Bank’s HomeReady and REACH programs which offer low down payment mortgages and down payment assistance funds for LMI individuals.

We are grateful for events like these that allow us to continue educating the public about wealth building tools like homeownership, which ultimately lead to stronger communities.
