East West Bank Receives United Way Model Campaign of the Year and Spirit of Los Angeles Awards
PUBLISHED AUGUST 22, 2016
This year marks 20 years in partnering with United Way Greater Los Angeles (UWGLA) on their “Creating Pathways Out of Poverty” fundraising campaign. We are honored to have received both the “Spirit of Los Angeles” award and “Model Campaign of the Year” award recently at United Way’s Annual Philanthropy Awards luncheon on August 22nd.
The “Spirit of Los Angeles” award is given to companies that raise over $500,000 annually toward UWGLA’s mission of breaking the cycle of poverty in Los Angeles. Other recipients of this award included Bank of America, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, UPS, and Southern California Edison. Additionally, our bank was lauded for having run an exemplary program this year and thus recognized for “Model Campaign of the Year.”
At the helm of this year’s successful campaign were co-chairs John Cate, Renee Chang, Memo Inal, Thomas Lo, and Al Sun. Renee and Memo accepted the awards on behalf of their co-chairs and East West Bank at the awards ceremony.
We want to thank our associates and their families, all of whom truly embody the idea of giving back to the community, and whose enthusiasm and contributions helped our campaign raise a record $1 million to improve quality of lives.
