In June, East West Bank associates joined other walkers in the greater Seattle region for the 23rd Annual "Walk for Rice," a fundraising event to benefit the Asian Counseling and Referral Service (ACRS) Food Bank.
The annual event features a 2.5 mile walk/run around Seattle's Seward Park and attracts over 1000 participants, raising over $200,000 in donations for the food bank. This is the second year East West Bank associates have participated in this worthy cause, pulling together a team of 17 participants.
ACRS' Food Bank is one of the most visited food banks in Washington's King County, distributing more than 126,000 pounds of food per month, and is the only food bank in the state that regularly distributes foods that meet Asian Pacific ethnic dietary needs. ACRS is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization offering a broad array of human services and behavioral health programs to Asian Pacific Americans in King County. ACRS is the largest multiservice organization serving all the different Asian Pacific American communities - immigrants, refugees and American-born - in the Pacific Northwest.
