Banking on Our Future Day at Cleveland Elementary School

PUBLISHED November 1, 2012

In November 2012, East West Bank held a “BOOF Day” at Cleveland Elementary School in Pasadena, California. Seven bank associates delivered a 4-module educational program about banking and credit to over 90 4th and 5th grade students. The modules focused on providing tools to help build a financially secure future.

Since 2007, East West Bank has partnered with community organizer Operation Hope to conduct their Banking on Our Future (BOOF) program within the communities we serve. Bank volunteers work with various schools to provide financial literacy courses, offering messages of empowerment, responsibility, and hope to disadvantaged youths in grades 4 through 12. The BOOF program’s goals are to elevate dignity, hope, and economic self-sufficiency of people in low-wealth communities through financial literacy. Operation HOPE is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to expand economic opportunity in underserved communities through education and empowerment.
