“JA Day” at Lafayette Elementary School

PUBLISHED January 10, 2013

East West Bank partnered with Junior Achievement to organize a “JA Day” focusing on financial literacy at Lafayette Elementary School in Oakland, California. More than 20 East West Bank volunteers gave full-day presentations to over 300 students at various grade levels. Lafayette Elementary School is located in a low- to moderate-income tract, where 80% of students qualify for free and reduced-price lunches. It was our privilege to expose these students to basic financial literacy concepts, including the importance of budgeting and saving, to help them get the best start possible in building a solid financial future. Junior Achievement is the world’s largest organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs.
