Thanksgiving is a special time to give thanks to all the blessings we have throughout the year! As the holiday season nears, we’re reminded that it’s time for gratitude and togetherness. Through “A Season of Giving”, our annual presenting partnership with the Los Angeles Lakers for the thirteenth year, we’ve recently hosted a series of Thanksgiving events to benefit our local neighbors in need.

Lakers Thanksgiving Feast at Frank Hotchkin Memorial Training Center – Saturday, 11/16

Held at the Frank Hotchkin Memorial Training Center in Los Angeles, the Season of Giving Thanksgiving Feast gave Lakers players and our bank volunteers a unique opportunity to serve dinner to firefighters and children from the community.

The exciting event was a heaven for kids: fun carnival games, basketball free throw shooting contests, a full Thanksgiving meal catered by Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que, plus an opportunity to meet the Laker girls and Los Angeles Lakers players Dwight Howard, Jared Dudley, and Quinn Cook.

Over 250 students and families attended from various community groups including; Watts Skill Academy, Asian Youth Center, St. Didacus School, Mixed Roots, Boys & Girls Clubs of Pasadena and West San Gabriel Valley, and Legacy LA.

Many thanks to all the volunteer associates for making the evening so special for our guests: Allison Yang, Belsazar Uriarte, Bin Liu, Cindy Tan, Elvira Valenzuela, Ernesto Lopez, George Hsieh, Merlin Teng, Mike Lee, Santiago Rodriguez, Tito Ibarrola, Yvette Marquez.

Lakers Turkey Giveaway at Salvation Army Inglewood – Thursday, 11/21

Great things happen when we come together! Through our second installment of the Season of Giving series, Los Angeles Lakers and East West Bank partnered to distribute Thanksgiving food and turkeys to 300 families in need at the Salvation Army of Inglewood. The families even met and mingled with Lakers’ legends A.C. Green and Robert Horry.

Through our collective efforts, neighbors received all the ingredients to create a warm and memorable Thanksgiving for their families: turkey, pies, stuffing, bread, and most importantly, holiday cheer!

A hearty, grateful thanks to our volunteer associates for making this  year’s thanksgiving that much more special for the families: Bill Likes, David Chan, Jacquelyn Lee, Kimberly Cheng, Larry Wong, Memo Inal, Mindy Duong, Rose Li, and Shelley Helton.
