Los Angeles Lakers’ point guard Jordan Clarkson held his first Southern California youth basketball camp for 200 young athletes from age 8 to 18. As one of the camp’s corporate sponsors, the Bank provided scholarships to 50 youths from underserved communities to interact and learn from their favorite player.
During the four-day “Nike JC6 Youth Basketball Camp”, participants learned not only fundamental basketball skills, but also life lessons from Clarkson. The students who received scholarships from the Bank were from local schools and community partners, such as Boys & Girls Club of Greater Redlands-Riverside. “We are pleased to bring this camp to these youths. This is a great opportunity for the kids to build fundamental skills in pursuit of their passion,” said Emily Wang, our SVP-Director of Marketing and Community Development.
Clarkson celebrated his 24th birthday during the camp. There was also a special appearance by Jordan’s first coach – his father Mike Clarkson – who showed to encourage the kids to become valuable members of their communities.
