East West Bank Team "Pays It Forward" for Families in Need
PUBLISHED NOVEMBER 2, 2017
In true holiday spirit, the employees of Southern California's Consumer and Business Banking team are setting the example on “paying it forward” and lending a hand to the most vulnerable in our community. Using the funds that their region won from the bank’s recent merchant campaign, the nine branches—led by SVP/Consumer Banking Regional Manager Renee Chang—decided to contribute both their time and funds to assist the Pasadena Ronald McDonald House.
The Ronald McDonald House provides no-cost living arrangements for families of terminally- and seriously-ill children. Families travel from across the US and other countries seeking the help of the Ronald McDonald House Charities to be in close proximity to the hospitals that can cater to their children’s special needs.
In the weeks leading up to the event, regional branches together to donate items from the Ronald McDonald House wish list. Then, on November 2nd, our volunteers personally hand-delivered all the items, filling the Ronald McDonald House lobby with the donated goods, which included comforting soft toys, an abundance of Clorox wipes and other cleaning supplies, soups, snacks, and many more housewares to make the Ronald McDonald House feel more like home.
That night, the East West Bank team also created a beautiful Asian-inspired dinner for the families, and served it to each guest of the house. Seeing the families enjoy themselves and come together for a family-style dinner during a hard time in their lives was a heartwarming and humbling experience our team.
The regional team is excited to start a tradition of giving back to the local community during the holidays, and look forward to coordinating similar future events throughout the year.
