Turning the Tide on Trash

AUGUST 12, 2022

In partnership with Heal the Bay, a group of our associates, along with friends and family, recently volunteered at a beach clean-up at Will Rogers State Beach. Heal the Bay is an environmental nonprofit dedicated to making the coastal waters and watersheds in Greater Los Angeles, safe, healthy, and clean.

After learning about the history of the organization, our volunteers learned about the impacts of microplastics and trash on our health and the various ecosystems surrounding our beaches.

In just 1.5 hours, our 50+ volunteers worked together to help pick up leftover plastics, cigarette butts and debris that were left on the beach or washed up on the shore. On average, one pound of trash is collected per person for the beach clean-ups. Together we managed to collect over 100 pounds of trash and 1,450 cigarette butts.

We could not have done this without the enthusiasm and help of everyone who showed up to play a part. A big thank you to all our associates, friends, and family who participated in the beach clean-up!
