Playing Our Part: EWB Marketing Team Assists Women in Need

Ending women’s homelessness cannot happen alone. However, we can each play our small part. Recently, our Marketing team collectively worked to help women experiencing homelessness at the Downtown Women’s Center (DWC).

Throughout the month of July, the team launched an internal donation drive to collect four brim-filled extra-large boxes of clothing and shoes. In addition to the drive, the team also committed a day of service to lend a hand to the DWC. During the service day, our volunteers rolled up their sleeves to sort and distribute the mountains of in-kind donations that organization receives daily. The donation sorting aims to sustain the organization’s through its retail merchandising efforts.

Furthermore, the team also prepared a homemade meal of chicken pot pie, salad, and fresh-cut fruits for 150 women who are experiencing homelessness. Homemade meals are important in welcoming women to DWC because nothing says “home” like food made with the love of someone who cares.

The Marketing team had a wonderful experience volunteering and enjoyed playing their part in helping meet the needs of women experiencing homelessness. There’s much more to be done to change inequitable systems, but we know with everyone’s help, we can continue transforming lives one step at a time.

The mission of Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) is to end homelessness for women in greater Los Angeles through housing, wellness, and advocacy. DWC is the first permanent supportive housing provider for women in the United States, the only health clinic exclusively for women in Skid Row, and the only drop-in day center exclusively for homeless women in the city of Los Angeles.
