Thanksgiving is a special time to give thanks for all the blessings of the year! As part of the bank’s annual “A Season of Giving” partnership with the Los Angeles Lakers, the bank recently hosted two special Thanksgiving events collaborating with the Lakers and our local community groups.

Thanksgiving Feast at Heart of Los Angeles – Thursday, 11/16

The bank hosted the annual Thanksgiving Feast at the Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) LaFayette Park Gym in downtown Los Angeles alongside local various community non-profit groups. The groups included the Los Angeles Urban League, St. Didacus School, Boy & Girls Club of Pasadena, and more.

Nearly 350 children and families participated and enjoyed carnival-style games as well as a complete warm Thanksgiving dinner donated by Lucille’s Smokehouse BBQ. Our guests had a memorable time engaging in fun activities and had the unique opportunity to meet the Lakers Girls and NBA Lakers players Brandon Ingram and Kyle Kuzma.

Our associates Bessie Yin, Dennis Wu, Kevin Wang, Irene Lee, and Mindy Duong generously volunteered their time to support this meaningful and rewarding event. This is the first event in the annual “A Season of Giving”, a series of events that allow the Lakers and their fans to share in the joy of the holiday season.

Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway at Salvation Army Inglewood Citadel Corps – Monday, 11/20

For the second event of the “A Season of Giving” series, the bank teamed with NBA Lakers player Jordan Clarkson and his JC Cares Foundation at a Thanksgiving food distribution for 325 needy families.

On hand to help with the distribution of the meals were NBA player Jordan Clarkson, the Lakers Girls and our associate-volunteers including Simone Brard, Evan Goldstein, Robert Lo, Stephen Yu, Joseph Au, Katryna Hwee, Robert Salazar, and Gina Gaborno.  The volunteers also assisted guests with carrying their goods to their vehicles.

The Thanksgiving meal, which included turkey, pumpkin pie, all the trimmings and gifts were donated by the Lakers and East West Bank. A special thanks to Food Finders for their work in sourcing and delivering the turkeys.
