Series 3 - Holiday Party For Kids at the Lakers Practice Facility

On Wednesday, December 16th, East West Bank presented its 9th Annual Holiday Party for Kids partnership with the L.A. Lakers at Toyota Center in El Segundo, CA. There were 70 elementary and middle school students from School On Wheels invited to celebrate the holiday party.

School on Wheels, Inc. is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization and its mission is to enhance educational opportunities for homeless children from kindergarten through 12th grade. Their goal is to shrink the gaps in their education and provide them with the highest level of education possible. Their program serves as a consistent support system to less fortunate students at a time of great stress and fear. To learn more, click www.schoolonwheels.org

That morning, the kids had an abundance of joy and laughter ice skating with the Laker girls. For some kids, it was their very first time ice skating! Afterwards, all the Lakers players and our bank-volunteers welcomed the kids into the Lakers practice facility and played different basketball activities. Additionally, each kid received a traditional photo with “Santa Kobe”, a memorable moment that they will never forget.

To complete the event with extra joy, Lakers players D’Angelo Russell, Anthony Brown, Marcelo Huertas and our bank-volunteers passed out gift bags filled with goodies to the kids. Furthermore, each kid received an extra gift from the Toys for Tots booth with the US Marines.

Our partnership with the L.A. Lakers on “A Season of Giving” created very special memories that will last a lifetime with these kids and we’re very pleased to be a part of this meaningful event during the holiday season.

Series 4 - Christmas On-Court Gift Exchange at the Lakers vs. Clippers Game

For the 2015 finale of our annual “A Season of Giving” partnership with the Lakers, young fans from the Brotherhood Crusade along with several fans from our Operation Hope Youth Program partnership, participated in a memorable on-court gift exchange with the Lakers players. We’re proud to continue our tradition of bringing a little extra cheer to well-deserving community members during the holiday season.
