Financial literacy is the ability to use knowledge and skills to make effective and informed money management decisions. While literacy – the ability to read and write – is a fundamental part of the education system, financial literacy is often left out of the equation. This creates an opportunity for organizations like Junior Achievement to partner with East West Bank to fill the gap in the equation.

On May 12, 2015, a group of energetic East West Bank teacher-volunteers gathered at Clyde Arbuckle Elementary School in San Jose, California, to inspire and prepare the 192 students from 2nd through 5th grade levels to succeed in a global economy. The partnership between East West Bank and Junior Achievement delivers elementary school grade programs that foster work-readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills, and use experiential learning to inspire students to dream big and reach their potential. Through this program, students develop the skills they need to experience the realities and opportunities of work and money management.
