The American Heart Walk Inspires Our Pacific Northwest Banking Team
PUBLISHED OCTOBER 11, 2014
Several members of East West Bank’s Pacific Northwest Region banking team were proud to participate together in the 2014 Puget Sound Heart & Stroke Walk on the cool, overcast morning of October 11, 2014. The noncompetitive 3.1 mile walk, which took place at Seattle Center near the Space Needle, raised critical funds for the American Heart Association’s (AHA) fight against heart disease and stroke.
The team was touched by the AHA mission, and by the spirit of giving that was so evident within the Seattle community. They enjoyed quality team bonding and a morning full of smiles, music, healthy food and sponsored freebies. The PNW team was grateful for the opportunity to participate in the event, and hopes to continue to do so for years to come.
This year’s walk raised over $1.5 million, with thousands of PNW participants. The mission of the American Heart Association is to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke. They do so by improving patient care, advocating for better health, reaching out to populations at risk, raising awareness, protecting the future, and educating Americans. By 2020, they aim to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent while reducing deaths from cardiovascular disease and stroke by 20 percent.
