East West Bank received the "Financial Institution of the Year" award from the Black Business Association (BBA) on June 25, 2014. Gordon de Lang, Senior Vice President, Head of Corporate Development and Legislative Affairs, accepted the award on behalf of East West Bank at the annual gala. "This is a great recognition of our professional service and community outreach efforts. East West Bank will continue to provide our best-of-class banking services to the business community. And as always, we will collaborate with our community partners to improve the quality of life for the communities we serve," commented Gordon.

A testimonial video was presented during the award ceremony. Herb Hudson (CEO, Roscoe's House of Chicken N Waffles), David Fields (Executive Director, Society of St. Vincent de Paul), and Reverend Mark E. Whitlock, Jr. (Pastor of Christ Our Redeemer AME Church), spoke highly of the Bank's personal and professional services, and altruistic values. Reverend Mark E. Whitlock, Jr. also praised the financial literacy program provided by the Bank to the members of his church. Guided by Mr. Rudolph I. Estrada, Lead Director of the Board of Directors of East West Bank, Gordon's team offered a series of financial literacy classes consist of a variety of practical and crucial financial knowledge such as buying a home, starting a business, credit remediation and investment.
