Important Notice
To receive Student Benefit Fee Waivers, a digital copy of your qualifying U.S. student visa must be provided to us by: MM/DD/YYYY
- A digital copy can be uploaded with your account application, or after account opening by using the Student Visa Upload feature in our Mobile App.
- Student Benefit Fee Waivers will not begin until a qualifying digital copy has been provided.
- Failure to provide us with your qualifying visa document by MM/DD/YYYY will result in the forfeiture of your Student Benefit Fee Waivers.
Note: Students who qualify for Student Benefit Fee Waivers after account opening will receive a refund of any Monthly Account Maintenance Fees charged to their account before the qualification date.

Why do I need a student visa?
To qualify for our Student Benefit Fee Waivers you'll need to provide us with a digital copy of your valid and current F-1, M-1 or J-1 (limited categories) student visa.
- If you already have your visa, you can scan it now with your application
- If you're still waiting to receive your visa, or if you don't have it available to scan right now, you'll have 6 full statement cycles to provide us with a digital copy
Please note, failure to provide a digital copy of your visa within the required time-frame will result in the forfeiture of your Student Fee Waiver Benefits.

What is a U.S. taxpayer?
Generally, you are considered a U.S. taxpayer if you are a:
- U.S. Citizen
- Legal Permanent Resident of the U.S. (Form I-551 “green card” holders); or a
- Foreign National (including Visa Holders) that meets the Substantial Presence Test for the current calendar year.
Substantial Presence Test - Typically, you are obligated to pay U.S. tax if you have been in the United States for 31 days during the current calendar year and 183 days during the 3-year period that includes the current year and prior 2 years (fractional number of days from each prior year). Some exceptions do apply.*
