Lending a Hand to Children and Families Struggling with Hunger
PUBLISHED JUNE 16, 2018
Earlier this month, our Southern California retail team was out in force to volunteer for Stamp Out Hunger, the nation’s largest single-day food drive. In partnership with the United Way of Greater Los Angeles, National Association of Letter Carriers, LA County Federation of Labor, and Labor Community Services, the drive aims to provide assistance to those struggling with hunger. During the summer months in particular, free and reduced school lunch programs are not readily available to the children who need it most. This food drive helps fill that gap.
Held at the Salvation Army Bell Complex, 40 East West Bank associates volunteered to help with sorting food donations, disposing of damaged donations, and packing and palletizing boxes of food for partner pantries. It was a meaningful experience that opened our eyes to the amount of food waste and also the income disparity prevalent in our communities.
Thank you to our partners and associates for lending a hand to provide food for children and families in need!
