Middle Schoolers Get a Head Start on Financial Education
PUBLISHED MAY 04, 2017
Recently, our Dallas team partnered with Junior Achievement (JA) to host JA Day at Zan Wesley Holmes Jr. Middle School, a Title I school located in a moderate income area of Dallas, Texas. The goal of JA Day is to equip students with tools to make sound financial decisions as they prepare for their future careers.
Our 13 teacher-volunteers spent a day with nearly 240 seventh-grade students to identify various types of career paths, its different levels of pay, and the importance of education within each career path. Students were taught how to make positive choices in life ranging from transportation and housing to food and savings. Our team also provided students valuable financial insight such as the difference between a debit card and credit card.
Through events like JA Day, each student can walk away better prepared for their financial futures. Many thanks to our Dallas team members for helping guide the way for the next generation: Aaron Sizemore (AVP-Relationship Manager, National Energy Finance), Brian Choi (AVP-Branch Manager, Harry Hines), Casey Tripp (VP-Portfolio Officer, Commercial Lending Dallas), Chelsea Liu (Relationship Associate, Commercial Lending Dallas), Haylee Edwards (VP-Relationship Manager, National Energy Finance), HeeMi Park (Customer Service Rep., Harry Hines), James Han (VP-Branch Manager, Richardson), Jean Chau (AVP-Branch Manager, Plano), Linda Cox (Loan Associate, National Energy Finance), Linh Mai (AVP-Assistant Branch Manager, Richardson), Michael Daugherty (VP-Petroleum Engineer, Senior Credit Supervision), Patrick Leznicki (SVP-Relationship Manager, National Energy Finance), Zhariff Zabidi (AVP-Petroleum Engineer Tech, Senior Credit Supervision).
