New York’s JA Day Prepares Students for Working World
PUBLISHED JUNE 20, 2019
The future is now! In partnership with Junior Achievement, our New York associates recently volunteered to teach a financial literacy class to over sixty 7th grade students at IS 230, a Title I middle school serving the low-moderate income community in Queens.
The JA-in-a-Day curriculum “It’s My Future” provides practical information to students about preparing for the working world while still in middle school. Each of our volunteers interacted with students on a variety of activities to teach them topics such as potential careers, how to plan for a job, and how to keep a job. Students also learned about personal branding and critical job-hunting tools.
We are thrilled to have had this opportunity to encourage students to explore their career aspirations. Watch out, world—these are the future leaders of tomorrow!
